Section 8 eligibility & rent estimate

Enter your ZIP, confirm your city, and see if you qualify for rental help — and how much you could receive.

Location
We load matching cities and counties automatically.
Household & income
Add up income for everyone who will be on the lease — wages, benefits, etc.
Elderly/disabled, childcare, medical — per PHA rules.
Leave blank for maximum possible subsidy before you pick a unit.

Enter a valid ZIP and wait for city/county to load.

How this estimate works

  1. ZIP resolves your city and county (Census/FCC geography).
  2. HUD income limits determine very low / low income eligibility.
  3. Fair Market Rent sets the payment standard (we use 100% FMR unless your PHA publishes otherwise).
  4. Total Tenant Payment is the greater of 30% of adjusted income, 10% of gross income, or $50 minimum.
  5. Maximum subsidy = payment standard minus your tenant payment.
